Pre-Natal Yoga
Yoga is one of the best forms of exercise during pregnancy, a gentle, safe means of keeping toned and supple without strain, of keeping aches and pains at bay and energy flowing, of relaxing mind and body, and preparing for the physical demands of birth – and motherhood itself.
Classic yoga postures, rhythmical sequences and movements, integrating the flow of the breath at all times. Bodywork is complemented with subtle breathing techniques, mudras, the use of sound and deep relaxation.
Pregnancy yoga is gentle and safe for all women, whether new to yoga or with years of practice. Simplicity in practice relies on a growing understanding of the effects of yoga on women’s physiology at this very precious time in a womans life.
Our prenatal yoga classes are designed for your changing body and your growing baby throughout all the stages of pregnancy. You can begin immediately upon finding out that you are pregnant and continue until you give birth. Prenatal yoga strengthens the uterus and pelvic muscles, improves circulation, aids digestion, exercise the spine and increase overall comfort.
Prenatal yoga classes provide women with a safe environment in which to explore their feelings and to adapt to the changes in their bodies. Yoga can provide a constant thread of stability. The principles of yoga include balance, awareness and respect. Women are empowered to feel confident in their ability to give birth. Yoga postures and movements will provide more space for the baby and alleviate many pregnancy discomforts. Every class ends with a deep relaxation allowing the body to release tensions and the mind to become still. Both mother and baby are nourished and energy is renewed.
