Golf Body Mechanics Analysis
Physical conditioning will increase the distance of your shots, reduce your score, and eliminate the nagging injuries associated with playing “too much” golf. In the era of Tiger Woods, there is no doubt that a golfer is an athlete.
It is believed that Tiger makes shots that no one else can because of his physical strength. But while millions upon millions of golfers have emulated Tiger’s clothing and equipment, how many have followed his lead and strengthened their body for golf?
Think for a moment about the money you spend on clubs, memberships, friendly wagers, and golf lessons. Are you getting your money’s worth? The value of your equipment or golf pro is not being questioned, but the value of the operating unit – your body – needs to be evaluated.
Our trainer Luke Bremner will take you through a comprehensive programme designed to improve your body for golf. This will not involve the use of golf clubs or swing analysis; instead the programme will improve your physical fitness and conditioning to enhance golfing performance. The programme will begin with an initial assessment of each golfer’s individual body mechanics to identify any physical limitations, asymmetries or imbalances that may cause swing faults and increase the risk of injury. This will be done through a series of body assessments conducted by Luke and will include assessing lower limb biomechanics, gait (movement pattern), flexibility/mobility and dynamic posture.
Following the assessment Luke will design a specific programme to correct any abnormalities that were identified and to improve physical fitness and conditioning for golf by focussing on enhancing golf specific flexibility, stability, strength and power. This will be achieved by using three separate stages.
This cycle will focus on preparing your body for the golf specific conditioning to follow and will allow the muscles and nervous system to adapt to an increased level of activity, which you may otherwise be unaccustomed to. The exercises will develop general strength and conditioning in the major muscle groups, improve core strength & stability and improve cardiovascular fitness.
After creating a solid foundation the focus will now be on converting your gains into functional power (speed & strength) specific to golf. Converting these gains is the crucial part in improving your golfing performance. The majority of movements performed in this cycle will be explosive to develop your explosive power and in particular, rotational power needed for golf.
After stage 2 considerable gains in strength and golf specific power should have been achieved. The goal now is to maintain these gains and to continue to develop flexibility and in any other areas of weakness that may have been identified in the previous cycles. A large part of this section will be based on education – Luke will provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills to maintain your gains.
This programme will help you add distance to your shots, maintain energy on the back nine to finish your round strong, make better turns during your swing and you may even lose some weight along the way! But that’s not all...
Are you one of the millions of golfers suffering from a niggling injury that’s plaguing your golfing game? Up to 80% of golfers suffer from lower back pain at some point in their golfing careers. Also, wrist, shoulder and knee injuries/pains are common in golfers. In addition to improving your physical conditioning for golf, this programme will help to reduce your aches & pains, injury proof your body to allow you to play golf pain free!
Give your golf game the boost it needs – book in today and improve your golf body to improve your golf game!
